5 Amazing Health Benefits Of Red Wine

Just thought of sharing with you all , especially alcohol lovers, some insight about wine. Although, I am myself a teetotaler, but I have a family which enjoys occasional drinks.  My dad is a wine connoisseur, he has a stocked up wine cellar in his bar and loves offering them to his friends.

I use red wine for my face pretty often and he scolds me “why use my wine and beer for your face and hair” ?

Anyhow, let me share with you some benefits in brief; however a word of caution, wine will benefit if consumed in moderation. Like we always say, excess of anything is bad ? !

1. Wine is Heart Healthy

Red wine, in moderation, has long been thought of as heart healthy. The alcohol and certain substances (resveratrol) in red wine called antioxidants may help prevent heart disease by increasing levels of good cholesterol (HDL) and protecting against artery damage.

A word of caution, if you are suffering from any disease, please consult your doctor before consuming alcoholic drinks.

2. Prevents rotting of teeth

For a perfect set of pearly whites, you should drink red wine. It hardens your enamel which in turn prevents tooth decay and the growth of bacteria. Polyphenols, something which is found in red wine, can reduce gum inflammation and prevent gum diseases. I feel all red foods help in preventing tooth decay.

3. For healthy skin

Ditch those facials and stock up some red wine, studies indicate one glass of wine per day for women is sufficient. I even apply raw red wine on my face directly and wash off after 30 minutes. Voila I get glowing skin ? . Red wine also contains antioxidants which are essential for our body. They can slow aging as well as help you reduce your fine lines and wrinkles. Stay young girls ?

4. Prevents cancer

Guercetin, one of the many antioxidants in red wine, may help prevent lung cancer. Research has shown that resveratrol, the same red wine antioxidant that helps protect your heart, can also kill cancerous cells. Resveratrol also inhibits cancerous cell’s ability to remove radiated particles, making radiation therapy more effective against cancer. Resveratrol also attacks cancerous cells and inhibits their ability to function. Some patients after going through chemotherapy are recommended to consume red wine in moderation of course.

5.  Stay slim and have some wine

Piceatannol, the chemical compound our bodies convert from resveratrol, deserves some credit. This compound was shown to actually prevent the growth of fat cells. Researchers say that Piceatannol binds to the insulin receptors of fat cells, essentially blocking the pathways necessary for immature fat cells to mature and grow.

Some studies have also shown that red wine reduces levels of blood sugar which is beneficial for type II diabetic patients, but if you are suffering from diabetes, you must consult a doctor first before indulging in to red wine.

How to buy good wine

I believe a lot in local produced stuff, thus I would always recommend, when in India buy Sula. Of course if you are traveling abroad, then sip some local wine produced there like when in France have what is the best there.

Have I tempted you all to taste some red wine? Do try, I have tried it too, but although I chose to remain a teetotaler for some other reasons ?
