Hello there,

How’s your time during the lockdown going? I’ve been feeling pretty frustrated lately! My face has been swollen for the past 2 days. Normally, I experience some swelling during my menstrual cycle, but this time it feels more intense!

Based on my personal experience, I’ve discovered a few anti-inflammatory foods that have been beneficial for me. Just to clarify, inflammation is often referred to as swelling. It can be triggered by factors such as stress, inactivity, menstrual cycles, illness, or reactions to certain foods or medications.

Foods That Can Help Reduce Inflammation in Your Body

 

1. Fruits

Fruits are rich in antioxidants, making them excellent for combating inflammation. Some fruits that are particularly beneficial include lime, papaya, pear, plum, raspberry, watermelon, apple, apricot, avocado, blackberry, and blueberry. Organic fruits are highly recommended for their superior quality.

2. Grains

Grains are known for their high fiber content, which can help alleviate inflammation. Among various grains like wheat, millet, and red rice, I have found that brown rice is particularly effective for me.

3. Spices and Herbs

India is renowned for its wide array of healthy spices. Check out the numerous spices and their health benefits. An article by Vinita discusses the anti-inflammatory properties of green chili. Turmeric is also known for its anti-swelling properties.

4. Non-Vegetarian Foods

Certain foods like chicken, eggs, salmon, and other cold-water fishes can be beneficial in reducing swelling and inflammation.

5. Organic Vegetables

There are several vegetables known for their anti-inflammatory properties, including asparagus, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers, green beans, kale, mushrooms, onions, peas, radishes, spinach, sprouts, and sweet potatoes.

6. Seeds

Seeds such as flaxseeds and chia seeds are known for their anti-inflammatory properties and can help reduce swelling.
