Air Fryers Could Be The Best Way To Cut Calories From Your Diet

It was back in 2014 when I first came across a crispy cauliflower Air fryer recipe on the IWB blog and got interested in getting one. Over time, I noticed air fryers gaining popularity as a must-have kitchen appliance for individuals focused on maintaining good health, fitness, and achieving weight loss goals. Nowadays, many people see air fryers as a convenient way to prepare quick and healthy meals to stay in shape. I recently added one to my kitchen appliance collection.

Before delving into cooking with an air fryer, let’s start by understanding what an air fryer is and how it operates.

To begin with, an air fryer is a medium-sized kitchen gadget used to cook crispy foods without the need for excessive oil typically used in deep frying. By circulating hot air around the food, the air fryer achieves a crisp, browned, and crunchy texture.

Benefits of Using an Air Fryer for Your Health

Air fryers enable you to cook fried-like foods using significantly less oil, offering a major health advantage. Do you realize how many calories you can save in your daily diet by opting for air fryer cooking? You can reduce your calorie intake by a staggering 70 to 80% using an air fryer. With one tablespoon of oil equating to roughly 125 calories, most air fryer recipes call for even less oil. Imagine the positive impact on your health, fitness, and weight loss by swapping a regular fried bread roll for an air-fried one. Personally, I adore bread rolls, especially the Indian flavored ones filled with mashed potatoes, onions, green chilies, and a hint of amchur powder. However, I detested the greasy residue left by traditional frying methods. This time, I opted for the air fryer to prepare my favorite bread rolls for breakfast, and I loved the crispy texture without any oily residue. I used homemade clarified butter (desi ghee) to coat the rolls. I made eight rolls, planning to enjoy them with evening tea, but only two remained by the time I set the table, so I had to plead with my husband to save them for a photo for my blog. (Apologies for skipping the platter presentation due to impatience)

I cooked eight rolls using only a tablespoon of ghee in the air fryer. Naturally, when you use minimal ghee or oil in an air fryer, it significantly reduces the caloric content compared to other frying methods. As a result, incorporating an air fryer into your kitchen routine can notably reduce your calorie intake. Additionally, the reduced or absence of oil during air frying aids in cutting down on overall daily fat consumption. If you are managing your fat intake for health reasons, an air fryer can help prepare low-fat fried foods without compromising taste. It’s essential to remember that reducing fat and calorie intake is fundamental for maintaining good health, fitness, and weight loss.

Let’s explore the primary benefits of using an air fryer:

Air fryers support weight loss

In Indian cuisine, frying plays a significant role in cooking delicious meals, but consuming fried foods regularly is linked to a higher risk of obesity. Transitioning from deep-fried foods to air-fried alternatives can substantially reduce the intake of unhealthy oils, promoting weight loss.

Air fryer cooking reduces the risk of toxic acrylamide formation

Deep frying food can lead to the production of harmful compounds like acrylamide, which, according to the International Agency for Research on Cancer, may contribute to the development of certain cancers such as ovarian, pancreatic, breast, and esophageal cancers. By shifting to air frying from deep frying, you can lower this health risk.

Air-fried food reduces the risk of diseases

Replacing deep frying with air frying can reduce the risk of various heart-related issues. A healthy heart contributes to improved fitness levels and facilitates a successful weight loss journey.

That being said, it’s crucial to remember that the healthiness of air fryer-cooked meals depends on your choices. If you decide to add breadcrumbs to your air-fried foods, can you truly consider them healthy? It’s up to you to prepare as wholesome meals as possible while utilizing an air fryer.
