How to Transform Your Regular Walks into Support for Charity

We couldn’t imagine walking getting any better than it already is. How can you improve on a workout that benefits your brain, heart, and gut health, is gentle on your joints, and promotes your overall longevity?

Well, one way to elevate your walking experience is by dedicating your miles to a charitable cause. A new initiative on Strava now allows you to raise funds for gender justice in sports charities while enjoying your walk, specifically your unique “hot girl walks.” For those unfamiliar, hot girl walks are a popular trend on TikTok that involve strutting to music, boosting your self-confidence, celebrating your achievements, and focusing on your goals.

To mark Women’s History Month, Strava’s Hot Girl Walk United challenge is running until the end of March, spearheaded by the creator of hot girl walks, Mia Lind.

“I developed the hot girl walk to inspire other women to engage in physical activity that benefits their mental well-being—it’s not just about walking,” Lind expressed in a statement. “The hot girl walk is about nurturing self-assurance, mindfulness, and fostering a sense of community. I am thrilled for the Strava community to participate in the hot girl walk movement and back these significant charities.”

By completing a four-mile walk (the ideal hot girl walk distance suggested by Lind) and tracking it on Strava, you can generate $4 for Women Win initiatives like GRLS, which empowers female leadership in sports, and the ONSIDE Fund, which bolsters grassroots female sports programs. Currently, women and girls face challenges of underrepresentation, insufficient pay, and limited research in the sports arena. Charities such as these strive to offer equal opportunities and access to these marginalized groups, encompassing all individuals who identify as women, girls, and non-binary. By combining all the $4 four-mile walks, Strava aims to donate up to $250,000 to these causes as part of its broader three-year $1 million commitment to gender equality in sports, known as Strive for More.

In Strava, you can uncover recommended hot girl walk paths curated by Lind all around the globe. Alternatively, you can chart your own course by simply signing up for the challenge and stepping out for a stroll to support these worthy causes.
