The magic lies in these workouts activating and strengthening slow-twitch muscle fibers – the small muscles that tend to take a backseat during exercises like squats and deadlifts. This discreet muscle group plays a crucial role in supporting our posture and joints. Strengthening them not only helps prevent injuries but also boosts endurance. In this edition of the “Trainer of the Month Club,” Sydney Latuoco, a professional dancer and trainer, leads us through a barre-inspired, equipment-free full-body workout. This session is packed with precise, yet powerful movements essential for targeting those slow-twitch muscles.

No equipment is required for this workout, and it can be completed in under 20 minutes. Latuoco emphasizes the importance of maintaining proper form throughout, stating, “I want you to stay in control of your movements.” Therefore, even during exercises like donkey kicks, focus on executing the movement correctly rather than aiming for height.

Following a brief warm-up, you will engage in deliberate, slow movements to activate the smaller muscles in your left leg. Subsequently, a series of chest exercises will be introduced before transitioning into quicker pulses while maintaining control. Your thighs will continue to feel the burn as Latuoco guides you through challenging movements that enhance single-leg balance, promoting stability. As the workout progresses, your arms and abs will also be put to the test, leaving your muscles trembling. After completing one side, you will repeat the entire routine on the opposite side.
