While we’ve all heard of lemongrass, we may not be fully aware of the benefits it offers.

Lemongrass, also known as “Cymbopogon citratus,” is commonly found in temperate and tropical regions. It boasts antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that aid in addressing various health issues. Lemongrass possesses detoxifying properties that cleanse the liver, digestive tract, kidneys, pancreas, and bladder.

Lemongrass is often used in soups and adds a delightful flavor; perhaps you’ve tried tom-yum soup before.

During a trip to Goa last year, I visited the Sahakari spice farms in Ponda. Upon arrival, they greeted us with a warm cup of lemongrass tea as a welcome drink. While I can’t say I loved the taste, it was certainly unique. It was my first introduction to something like “lemongrass tea”!

This experience piqued my curiosity, leading me to explore the numerous benefits that lemongrass offers.

While lemongrass has its advantages, overconsumption can lead to discomfort. Possible side effects include a burning sensation, rashes, skin irritation, and lowered blood sugar levels. To maximize its benefits, it is recommended to prepare a tea for consumption.

– Managing stress and high blood pressure

– Lowering cholesterol levels

– Alleviating menstrual problems and acne

– Enhancing blood circulation

The Benefits of Lemongrass Include:

Anemia: It is rich in iron, an essential component for hemoglobin synthesis.

Purification: Lemongrass detoxifies the body by eliminating toxins.

Anti-Cancer: Citral, present in lemongrass, acts as an anti-cancer agent that targets cancer cells without harming healthy tissues.

Healthy Skin: Lemongrass acts as a blood purifier, preventing acne issues.

Insomnia: Its purifying properties and calming effects aid in improving sleep.

Acid Indigestion: Lemongrass soothes heartburn and reduces its recurrence.

Diabetes: It cleanses the pancreas and lowers blood sugar levels due to its purifying and cleansing properties.

Fungal and Bacterial Infections: Lemongrass possesses antiseptic properties that ward off such infections.
