Many celebrities follow strict diet and fitness programs. There are few actors and actresses who achieved stunning looks by shedding lots of weight. It really needs lots of dedication and effort. Weight loss plan should become a part of life to get that slim figure and health.

One of those actresses who lost lots of weight is Sonam Kapoor, a well-known Bollywood actress and daughter of actor, Anil Kapoor. She admitted that she’s a foodie. Looking at her now we can never say that once she used to be fat. When she was offered a role in her first move, Saawariya, she took the challenge very seriously and targeted to lose 35kgs. She left all her favorite foods and got trained under supervision of her mother, fitness trainers and Leela Bansali. She used to   be 87kgs and before shooting for the movie, she lost 32kgs.

Sonam Kapoor’s Weight Loss Plan:

1. Small Meals Every 2 Hours:

Yes, we know this already. Taking small meals every 2 hours is better than taking 3 large meals. This boosts metabolism and helps in weight loss.

2. Avoid Sugary and Oily Foods:

The basic thing one can do in a weight loss program is to cut those sugary foods. Avoid sweets completely. Even oily foods aren’t good. These foods can only add extra calories.

3. A Fixed Routine:

Make a routine and try to follow it always what so ever may happen.

4. Exercise:

Cardio-vascular exercises are best for weight loss training. Get proper advice from a good trainer and lift some weights.

5. Cut caffeine from Routine and Add Green Tea:

Caffeine can only add extra pounds. So cut it out of your life first to start for a healthy life and add green tea instead. Coffee also has some benefits but green tea is a better choice to coffee.

6. Vegetables, Fruits and Lots of Water:

Stay healthy and fit with lots of fresh vegetables and fruits. Don’t forget drink lots of water. It’s a must rule.

7. Egg Whites and Lean meats:

Egg whites and lean meats like chicken and fish are protein rich and have low triglycerides and cholesterol. When you are in a weight loss program, add lots of proteins.

Sample of Sonam Kapoor’s Weight loss Diet:

She starts her day with lukewarm water with honey and lime juice.

She takes 5 small meals a day.

Breakfast – Breakfast includes egg omelet or oatmeal, toast, fruits and water. She added few cups of green tea with no sugar every day. Multi-vitamins can also be included after consulting doctor.

Mini Meal – Brown bread with egg white and protein shake

Lunch – Lunch includes vegetables, chicken, roti (made of protein rich flour), curd and fruits. The rotis are made from protein-rich flour. She avoides red meat.

Dinner – Have dinner as early as possible with minimum 3 hours of gap between dinner and bed time. For Sonam, it’s usually a bit of grilled fish, chicken sandwich, salad and a glass of protein shake.

Sonam eats once every two hours. She says due heavy physical workouts throughout the day she feels hungry and so she eats every two hours. She also eats dry fruits and nuts. Coconut water, buttermilk and cucumber juice are few of her favorite drinks. She avoids excess salt and sugar.

The diet plan seems to be simple but it plays important role in weight loss. This is a sample diet plan of Sonam. Her plan changes every day based on her needs. Other than diet, a vigorous exercise is equally important for weight loss.

For Sonam, going to gym was not the only mean of exercising. She loves dancing, swimming, power yoga and squash. She adds dance and squash at least twice a week to maintain the body.

She says she eats and drinks in moderation and also never holds back if she has a strong craving for any food item. She eats apples, health bars, and sandwiches while traveling. Her grandmother told her to drink a glass of warm water every morning to flush out all the toxins in the body. She always prefers to stay in no smoking atmosphere everywhere.

Sonam Kapoor’s Trainers:

Not just one or two. She had many trainers involved for her weight loss. For her general fitness, Zarine Watson; for power yoga, Bharat Thakur; for weight training, Shervir and Monisha; and for pilates, it was Yasmin Karachiwala. She also adds Kathak which is a rigorous dance form and gives her a well-toned body.

Sonam used to like sports during her school days. She used to play basketball, rugby, etc. regularly. These helped her n developing flexibility due to which following exercise routines were not problem for her. She concentrates on a particular body part in a day for workout. She also adds that weight training and cardio-vascular exercises work best for her.


What are the workouts she does everday?

Jogging everyday early in the morning

Yoga and meditation for 30 minutes

Cardio-vascular exercises for 30 minutes

Dance in free time

Swimming in free time

Squash at least twice a week

Sonam’s Advice:

Sonam always says people to follow rigorous work schedules. She asks to have periodical medical checkups to make sure if they have not gained any weight because of any health problem. For her, a person who takes healthy diet and does workouts regularly stays healthy.

So, this is how Sonam Kapoor lost all her excess weight by having a great control on her food cravings and dong lots of workouts. Finally she achieved a fit and slim body. Now she’s one of the slimmer looking celebrities in Bollywood.
